Launching of the Certification in Business Analysis

After three (3) years of preparation, a certification in business analysis for the Filipino professional has been finally unveiled. The profession of business analysis is continually growing in the Philippines and the need to professionalize it has been the clamor of the industry. Not only IT companies have the position of a business analyst, but also leading service providers (banks, utilities, BPO’s, airlines) in the country. The term "business analyst" is used both as a profession title and as a role. Whether it is a position title or role, the service industry sees the potential of making this as a professional career of the millennium. The growing need for professional BA’s became one of the catalysts for the certification program. Having a set of competences from all over the world, adopting international standards and eventually coming up with collective agreements that certain levels of competence are needed in the Philippines to eventually say that someone has the ability to perform the requirements for a business analyst. Adopting international standards is not enough. These standards have to be tested within the local setting and see its effectiveness. A professional business analyst is someone who tests his knowledge in tailoring what needs to be applied in a given project type and culture within an organization.
